The Week in Social Media

Hillevi Lausten August 24th, 2010 No Comments

I’m Hillevi Lausten, PR manager focusing on social media at Euro RSCG ABC, in one of the most beautiful cities in Germany: Hamburg. I will replace Baptiste Limb during the time he’s busy moving.

  • As social media and PR are getting more connected every single day, let’s first focus on a Mashable blog post about the future of social media and PR. Indeed, when you think of a PR campaign nowadays, you have to involve social media components as well.
  • Facebook and Google—nobody is able to ignore those two giants when it comes to social media or the Internet, for that matter. The big question is: Which one is the biggest influencer, and how will social media change now that Facebook has implemented Facebook Places in America? (In Germany, for example, Location Based Services is not that popular so far.) Check out Econsultancy for one opinion on whether size matters.
  • As I mentioned previously, I am from Germany. Reading international articles and posts about social media and the Web makes me realize how different the perception of those two things can be: In Germany, for example, Google has trouble promoting Google Street View, and watching videos is one of the most dominant online activities; Americans love to play online games and spend time on social networking sites.

Till next week (or daily on Twitter).
